Calling all divas and homebodies; Come on an adventure for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation

Are you a little too fond of your home comforts? Would you like to escape into the wilderness and learn some new skills? Do you fancy raising lots of money for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation while leaving the confines of your comfort zone? Then we may just have the perfect challenge for you…

At The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation HQ we are constantly looking for new and exciting ways for our supporters to raise money. Introducing ’24 Hours in the Wild’, one of Adventure 360 UK’s most popular adventure courses. Teaching basic survival skills including shelter building and fire starting, as well as axe and knife work, foraging, stalking animals and trapping, and night navigation, the course is designed to test participants to their limits for 24 hours – there are no home comforts under the stars, so be sure to build a waterproof shelter!

’24 Hours in the Wild’ will be held right in the heart of Dartmoor; participants will be able to escape from it all while learning some key survival skills and raising much-needed funds for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. Adventure 360 UK lays on a fantastic camp, which features a continuous fire and plenty of seating. All food will be provided by the course leaders – even nibbles – so don’t worry if your stalking isn’t quite up to scratch…

It costs just £125 per person to be enrolled on one of Adventure 360 UK’s ’24 Hours in the Wild’ courses, although this will be refunded should a minimum sponsorship amount of £500 be raised. Participants must raise a minimum of £100 in order to be eligible for the course.

For more information please email, or visit Adventure 360 UK’s website. The courses will be taking place between 28th-29th June and 19th-20th July. There are just 12 spaces available on the ’24 Hours in the Wild’ course, so be sure to book on quickly.

Naomi’s cycle challenge; an update

We thought you may like a little update from the Alcoa in Motion Family Bike Ride, which took place on Sunday 25th May. Starting at the Alcoa Howmet building in Kestrel Way, Naomi and her fellow riders took on a series of cycle paths towards Exmouth Seafront, where a picnic and games were laid on.

Naomi says, “I hadn’t ridden a bike for so long, which itself provided a massive challenge! I also had to take into account the physical toll that this challenge would have. Up until now I have predominately challenged myself mentally – this was whole experience! My cancer is located in my spine and pelvis, which puts a massive strain on my back, so I knew that the ride wasn’t going to be easy at all. Our route of 11 miles turned out to be nearer 14.5 miles, plus I was pulling Devon in a trailer behind me. The day ended up being a much bigger challenge than first expected, and I couldn’t have done it without the support of those who rode alongside me. I am so proud of what we achieved.”

And so you should be, Naomi! Naomi raised a fantastic £593 in sponsorship money, and was presented with a grant for $2,500 by Alcoa in Motion – a massive boost to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation.

A gallery of photos can be found here. Of course, it’s still not too late to show your support for Naomi and her cycling companions. If you can spare any money, no matter how small or large the donation, please click here.

Opportunities with the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation

Don’t forget…

We are currently looking to recruit four volunteer event assistants, who will become integral parts of the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation’s team. The position will include evening and weekend work, with hours negotiable. Volunteers from any area will be considered, although those from Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset are preferred at present.

We are also looking for a vehicle sponsor, owing to the increasingly difficult task of transporting items for weddings and events in our own (relatively small!) vehicles. If you have any forms of transportation that you would be willing to donate, or if you’d like to consider sponsoring transport for us, please get in touch – your help is invaluable!

Applications for the Fundraising Co-ordinator are now closed, and we will be contacting shortlisted applicants shortly.

For more information on any of these vacancies, to become our vehicle sponsor, or to see how you can help the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, please email
