Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs Thomas

Naomi and Graham, 6th June 2012

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Naomi and her husband, Graham, a very happy second wedding anniversary. You both deserve so much love and happiness; your relationship is a true inspiration, and you have a connection that is to be admired and envied, despite everything that life has thrown at you. Yours is a true love that will last forever. x

Naomi and Graham celebrated their wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows, as they have done every year since their very special day.

Naomi says, “We have absolutely no idea how long I have left, and so it is important for us to celebrate every year that passes. Renewing our vows feels like we are getting married all over again, and reminds us just important our wedding day was to us. We always write our own vows, reminding each other of everything that we’re grateful for. Despite it all, I feel so, so lucky to be here, and to have an amazing husband and son.”

Naomi and Graham’s vow renewal was hosted at the gorgeous Deer Park Country House Hotel in Honiton, Devon, which also laid on a toast and canapés for the occasion.

The couple’s son, Devon, proudly walked his Mum down the aisle.

Naomi’s dress and veil were provided by The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation’s Wedding Outfit Amnesty Collection, details of which can be found here. Her hair and make-up was done by Tracy Pallari Hair and Make-up; doesn’t she look absolutely stunning?!

Naomi’s beautiful bouquet was supplied by Pumpkin and Pye of Exeter.

Following their vow renewal, Graham and Naomi made their way to The Harbour Hotel in Salcombe for a romantic mini-moon – a perfect end to their beautiful day, complete with some very special little extras!

Naomi and Graham would like to thank everybody that made their anniversary so special and memorable. There are no words to express their gratitude.

A gallery of stunning pictures taken by the talented Tara Statton Photography can be found here; prepare to be blown away. A video of the occasion, shot by Daisy Daisy Films, can be found here.

No Ordinary Wedding Planner

As a bonus anniversary gift, Naomi’s new book, No Ordinary Wedding Planner, was scheduled for release on the couple’s anniversary. The book tells the story of the couple’s love and strength through adversity, so it seems only right that it should be there to help them make the years count. You can share Naomi and Graham’s story by purchasing the e-book here.

February Fundraising – yet more great news!

We have had a brilliant start to 2014, with so many events and fundraisers going on.

Most recently Zoe Bromiley, Mike Parry, and their three gorgeous children ran the Bath Half Marathon Family Fun Run in just eight minutes. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are so proud of Zoe and Mike. They do so much to raise funds and awareness for the Foundation, and we couldn’t be more appreciative if we tried!

We have also received a fabulous donation from Emma Tasker, who raised £22.50 via sales of her Christmas cards – there are so many ways that you can get involved in raising funds, and we would like to thank Emma for being so creative.

The Guild of Professional Wedding Services recently presented the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation with a cheque for £155.60. Funds were raised via a charity raffle, as well as a voluntary entrance fee to their wedding fair on January 5th. An amazing result from the Guild, as always!

What can you give?

If you would like to donate to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation but have never had the time to participate in a fundraising event, why not consider a monthly donation to the charity? Quick and easy to set up, the monthly direct debit will go towards helping couples affected by terminal and life-limiting illnesses to marry their soul mates. What an amazing way to give back! Kerry-Ann Gilmour has recently signed up, and we can’t thank her enough.

Did you know…?

You can now nominate the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation at any branch of Asda or Waitrose. Their Community Project schemes aim to raise awareness of local charities and ventures, so we are excited at the possibility of reaching a whole new audience.

We would also like to take this opportunity to tell you all about our nomination for the National Lottery Awards. Each year, the organisation offers hundreds of projects across the country the opportunity to receive a massive £2,000 for their charity or venture, as well as the chance to appear on television to raise awareness of their cause – it is amazing to be nominated. Fingers crossed that we’re one of the lucky seven chosen to win an award!

Naomi and the team are also thrilled by the announcement that the Little Wedding Helper’s Wedding Tweet Ups will be raising money for the Foundation from now on. These informal and fun networking events are designed for anyone in the wedding industry; why not join in and raise some money while you’re at it?

Phew, what a lot of news! As always, we are eternally grateful to those who dedicate their time to raising money for the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, and to those who work tirelessly to raise awareness of the charity. We couldn’t continue our valuable work without you, so THANK YOU.

Keep you eyes peeled for future events and fundraising news.

The Wedding Professionals’ Ball

It was an evening that the Wedding Industry had been looking forward to for quite some time, and the Wedding Professionals’ Ball certainly didn’t disappoint!

Held on Saturday 15th February at the Hilton Hotel in Canary Wharf, London, the Wedding Professionals’ Ball promised an evening of entertainment, delicious food, and fantastic opportunities for networking, as well as a celebration of achievement across the wedding industry. The Ball was organised by students of the Wedding Planner School in Portishead as part of their coursework, and we couldn’t have been more impressed!

A fantastic night was had by all; we dined on a beautiful three-course meal, enjoyed the talents of a magician, and even posed for a snap or two for the event’s photographer. How glamorous! There was a serious side to the evening though, as Naomi was in attendance as guest speaker. Following a showing of the brilliant film by Vogue Wedding Films, Naomi brought the room to silence as she discussed life with cancer and the inspiration behind the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, which was honoured by the Ball.

In total, the Wedding Professionals’ Ball raised £1,659.74 for the Foundation, hosting a spectacular raffle with some amazing prizes. Thank you to the organisers; what a fabulous job you did!

It was lovely to see so many faces at the Ball, and to let our hair down for a change – we look forward to seeing many of you during the course of the next year and beyond.

A night not to be missed: Happy 10th Anniversary, Vanilla Catering!

It was with great excitement that Naomi recently headed off to Portsmouth to celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of our supporters, the sublime Vanilla Catering. We are proud to list the team among our friends here at the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, and couldn’t be more pleased that they have once again chosen us as their charity for the year.

Vanilla Catering’s support during the last year, and through into this year, has been amazing. For every meal that they produce, 20p is donated directly to the Foundation; £1,300 was raised for the Foundation last year alone – who knows where 2014 will take us!

Attended by around 100 guests, the evening’s festivities were held at the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyards. A delicious menu of canapés, each prepared by Vanilla Catering, was served throughout the evening. The tasty treats on offer included vegetable tempura with sweet soy dipping sauce, smoked ham hock, onion chutney on a cheese and chive scone, pan fried beef strips, and rosemary and smoked garlic parmentier potatoes with roasted tomatoes – heaven!

The evening also provided the opportunity for Naomi to discuss the work of the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, and guests were able to watch an emotional video charting her experiences with cancer and the decision to found a charity that would help others in her situation.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Vanilla Catering for their continued support. Happy anniversary!

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kemp

Emma and Jason’s story begins in April 2013, when they first contacted The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation and entered their application. Like so many other couples who contact the Foundation, Emma and Jason’s lives had been turned upside down by illness – in this case, on both sides of their family.

Naomi says, “Emma and Jason are a fantastic couple with three wonderful children. They have been through a really tough time in the last few years and, with both families plagued with illness, really deserved to have a little happiness in their lives. The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation was so excited to be able to make their dreams come true.”

Emma and Jason were quickly accepted by the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, and a date was set; Friday 10th January 2014.

The Wedding Day

The morning of the wedding dawned; and what a beautiful day it was for a wedding!

Naomi, who was present at this stunning wedding, says, “Obviously, with every wedding we do, there are a lot of mixed emotions. In fact there has not been one wedding that has gone by where there has not been a tear shed by me! Some more than others! I do try and busy myself as soon as the day starts, but for this wedding I was just drawn in to watch the whole ceremony. Emma looked out of this world. Her dark hair against her ivory dress made her the elegant bride that she said she desperately wanted to be on the day. Jason looked handsome and so proud. Together they looked into each other’s eyes and the love they had for each other was clear for everyone to see. They both spoke their vows so clearly despite the nerves, and so did those giving readings. Seeing them walk back down the aisle as husband and wife was a really proud moment for the team and myself. We had worked for so many months on this wedding, and it was our first wedding that wasn’t because of cancer. We wanted to try something different to see if we got the same response from suppliers, which we did. It also gave us just as much pleasure knowing that Emma and Jason have time now to enjoy each other as husband and wife.”

For the reception, guests were seated at tables inspired by Emma and Jason’s relationship. The couple’s eldest daughter gave an emotional musical performance, and there were plenty of tissues at the ready for Jason’s speech. Guests were kept amused with trivia cards, and also ‘words of wisdom cards’ , which Emma and Jason had provided for their guests to write for them. The final treat was a tasty Ferrero Roche; lovely!

Guests were entertained by tableside magician Richard Parsons, whose tricks went down a storm; his illusions certainly fitted in with Emma and Jason’s magical day. Garden games from Dream Occasions provided a little outdoor excitement. In fact, this stunning wedding day was full of fun, laughter and love; everything we could have hoped for, for such a special couple.

The evening’s entertainment

As the sun dipped below the horizon, magical fairy lights and glowing lettering created a stunning backdrop for the night’s entertainment.

“I do”

Of their special day Emma and Jason say, “Thank you again for everything. When Jay and I had time to finally sit down today and reflect on yesterday, we became quite overwhelmed. We’re finding it difficult to actually come to terms with the fact it has actually happened, as it’s like something from a dream! Nine months ago we thought marrying each other was a distant reality, and now here we are as husband and wife! We could not have wished for a more perfect day from start to finish; All thanks to Naomi and her and wonderful team. We’ll never forget what you’ve done for us.”

The Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards

Did you get married between the 16th December 2012, and the 16th December 2013? If so, you are eligible to nominate and vote for your wedding’s suppliers in this year’s Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards. Whether you were a fan of your flowers, fanatical about your photographer, delighted with your dress or impressed by your caterers, the awards are open to any wedding service or supplier from the Bristol and Somerset area.

Nominations for the Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards close on the 7th February, while voting will be closing on the 14th February – be sure to vote for your favourite wedding supplier before time runs out!

Suppliers will be judged on the overall standard of the service they provided, the quality of their product, value for money, and their commitment to the weddings they have been a part of. Voters also have the opportunity to pass anonymous comments to each supplier, providing feedback on the service/s they offer; this is a fantastic chance for suppliers to find out what they’re doing right.

The night itself

Judged by Wedding Wishing Well Foundation founder Naomi Thomas, the Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards promises to be an unforgettable occasion. Taking place on the 28th February at Wick Farm near Bath, the ceremony will toast the very cream of the local wedding industry.
