We are delighted to announce that The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants has chosen us as their Charity of the Year 2014. This brilliant organisation offers professional networking and support for independent celebrants, including those who officiate weddings, funerals, vow renewals, and naming ceremonies, as well as providing training courses to those interested in pursuing a career in any of these fields.
During the past three years founder and director Terri Shanks had donated just under £10,000 to several deserving charities, helping them to continue their valuable work. The Fellowship’s support means a great deal to us, and we can’t wait wait to work alongside them this year.
Drawn to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation via Facebook, Terri says, “I conduct both Wedding and Funeral ceremonies, and have previously conducted weddings for people just a matter of days before they have passed away. I know the importance of someone being able to do something so beautiful, meaningful, and positive at such a difficult time in their life. I was inspired by Naomi’s personal courage to be able to assist others in creating their wedding whilst she was fighting her own battle with cancer. She knows how much it means to get married, as well as the financial burdens that come with cancer. It seems like Naomi has thought of everything, not only looking to raise cash for the charity but gown donation too – which I shall shortly be adding to myself!”
Terri is passionate about giving back to her community and further afield and makes a donation for every new celebrant to join the Fellowship, inspired by her own personal journey to find her adopted brother, who unfortunately passed away before they could be reunited.
“Supporting this charity, for me personally, means I am helping others to achieve their final dreams and that is a truly wonderful thing to be able to do. I am proud that The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants will be helping such a worthwhile charity this year and hope that our donation will help at least one deserving couple to have the day of their dreams.”
