The grand total so far – and a big thank you!

As the New Year is traditionally a time for reflecting upon past successes and adventures, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you the total raised for the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation since we began in 2012.

It is with massive thanks to the support of our generous suppliers, fundraisers, volunteers, and sponsors that we have raised an incredible £20,000 in just two years; that’s a fantastic amount towards our aim of helping as many couples as possible.

Thank you. Thank you to those of you who have abseiled and taken part in Zumba-thons; for those who have held events, fairs, dinner parties and galas in our honour; for those who have sung our praises, danced the night away, taken part in sporting events, and shared the details of our charity across the country. Thank you.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Johnsons the Cleaners, who have been accepting bridal outfits, shoes, and accessories on our behalf. We know that it’s difficult to part with such precious items, but your generosity really can change lives.

January Round Up

While we’re in the business of saying thank you, we’d like to extend our gratitude to I Love Iced Magic Cakes for raising a fabulous £120 for us, and to Crediton Pet Shop for collecting £15.48 in their charity tin; there really is no donation too big or small.

The Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards

Did you get married between the 16th December 2012, and the 16th December 2013? If so, you are eligible to nominate and vote for your wedding’s suppliers in this year’s Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards. Whether you were a fan of your flowers, fanatical about your photographer, delighted with your dress or impressed by your caterers, the awards are open to any wedding service or supplier from the Bristol and Somerset area.

Nominations for the Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards close on the 7th February, while voting will be closing on the 14th February – be sure to vote for your favourite wedding supplier before time runs out!

Suppliers will be judged on the overall standard of the service they provided, the quality of their product, value for money, and their commitment to the weddings they have been a part of. Voters also have the opportunity to pass anonymous comments to each supplier, providing feedback on the service/s they offer; this is a fantastic chance for suppliers to find out what they’re doing right.

The night itself

Judged by Wedding Wishing Well Foundation founder Naomi Thomas, the Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards promises to be an unforgettable occasion. Taking place on the 28th February at Wick Farm near Bath, the ceremony will toast the very cream of the local wedding industry.

New Year Fundraising Round Up

While we are busy totting up our fundraising totals for 2013, we thought we’d share some of the efforts that have been undertaken this year already – less than two weeks into the New Year, and already you have been hard at the fundraising! We can’t thank you enough.

The Guild of Professional Wedding Services
held a wedding fair on Sunday 5th January, with all proceeds being donated to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. The event raised a fabulous £155.60, and lots of newly engaged couples were able to network with some fantastic local suppliers – we’d call that a brilliant result!

I Love Iced Magic Cakes
, meanwhile, has raised a cool £120. We were lucky enough to meet this lovely lady at the Guild’s wedding fair, and would like to say a massive thank you for all of your hard work.

An honourable mention should go to Lee Bishop, who raised £200 at his Christmas Dinner by asking guests to donate £10 to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation rather than buy each other gifts – what an amazing idea.

THANK YOU!

As always, keep your fundraising news coming in. We love to hear what you’re up to, and really appreciate your efforts. Let’s see if we can make 2014 even more successful than 2013.
